Reiki is energy. The practice of Reiki is the transfer of universal life force energy by the certified Reiki Practitioner's gentle touch or in some cases holding hands near the client's body. The term Reiki comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” which means life force energy that flows through all living things.
Reiki is spiritual in nature, however it is not a religion and the founder Mikao Usui made sure Reiki did not become a religion. He wanted it to be available to everyone. Usui recommended that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures.
Reiki treatment can:
Balance functions of body, mind and spirit,
Stimulate the body's ability to heal itself by optimizing the immune system,
Dissolve energy blockages and releases toxins,
Create deep relaxation,
Enhance self-awareness and clarity,
Relieve pain, stress, insomnia, depression, PTSD, and side effects of chemotherapy, radiation treatment and medications.
The Medical community is utilizing Reiki more and more as a complimentary treatment, which supports many conventional medical treatments and is being welcomed in the operating room. Reiki is also very beneficial during end of life palliative care for the patient and family. Learn more about Reiki in the operating room from Dr. Sheldon Feldman's personal video. Kat was trained and certified as a Medical Reiki Master by Raven Keyes who works directly with Dr. Feldman and in the past, Dr. Mehmet Oz.

"August 8, I had my first session with Kat Sullivan. She starts with a guided meditation. Her voice is so soothing that it takes you down quickly. Once she started working with her hands, I began to feel a pulsating sensation in my head, shoulders, chest and arms. It felt like I'd been "activated". I know that sounds weird to say, but that was what came to mind. As her work continued, I noticed I was "in" and "out" which was so special. Having the "out of body" experience is where I believe one finds total relief from stress and daily living. It is like "conscious unconsciousness" - "there but not there". It's a vacation on the table. You will leave feeling fresh, relaxed and renewed. I highly recommend Kat's sessions at Reiki Groove and hope that you will make your appointment ASAP and often. I'll be a regular client!!!"
I was deliberate in my choice of the word Groove. It's an interesting word! I love music. Music heals, and my clients find that it's a big part of the Reiki experience in my sessions. Music is frequency and vibration and the healing power of frequency and vibration is well known and documented.
Groove can also mean "routine" and I encourage and guide my clients to establish routines around self-care, around healing and around a belief in themselves as they move from static old patterns to dynamic new chapters.
And finally groove can mean "channel" and we Reiki practitioners channel life force energy to clients for healing.
